Diass (Mbour), 26 August (APS) – The national airline Air Senegal will launch next Thursday a flight between the Blaise Diagne Airport of Diass, the city of New York and Washington (United States), announced Wednesday its general manager, Ibrahima Kane.

The launch of this service will allow the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) to play its role as an air hub, he told the press.

“Today, the flight that will make the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) play its role as an air hub is 100% full and 60% of the passengers on this flight come from the West African sub-region,” he explained.

Ibrahima Kâne was speaking during a visit by the Minister of Tourism and Air Transport MTTA), Alioune Sarr, who had come to enquire about the state of preparation of the Diass-New-York-Washington service.

According to Alioune Sarr, this is part of the great project “Plan Sénégal émergent” (PSE) which was initiated by the President of the Republic Macky Sall at the beginning of his presidency.

“In this process of opening up to the international market, with two frequencies per week, Thursday and Sunday, the airport authorities, the authorities of Air Senegal are working to consolidate the air hub (…)”, said the CEO of Air Senegal.
These frequencies will be strengthened, especially on other destinations, promised Ibrahima Kane, according to whom Air Senegal has finished installing its network.
